CENS Promotes Taiwanese Hardware Makers at Major Global Trade Fairs
2007/08/09
Over the past two years, China Economic News Service (CENS), Taiwan`s largest private trade-magazine publisher, has promoted the Taiwan Hardware Magazine at major global hardware trade shows, including Bricoforma/Ferrforma of Bilbao, Spain; The Big-5 Show of Dubai, UAE; and Kitchen/Bathroom Industry Show of Las Vegas, the United States.
This year, the biennially held Bricoforma/Ferrforma show was held March 3-10. It was the 17th Spanish hardware trade fair, which included both Bricoforma and Ferrforma shows. Bricoforma featured household articles, garden tools and household ornaments while the other show highlighted hardware, hand tools, pneumatic tools, locks, industrial parts, building materials and fasteners.
A total of 1,314 suppliers worldwide attracted 30,248 visitors to check out their latest products displayed across 994 booths on the 155,000-square-meter showground of the Bilbao Exhibition Center, which contains six halls.

Of the exhibitors, 89 came from Taiwan, an increase of 93% from last event. These Taiwanese exhibitors were organized by CENS and included the Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers` Association (THTMA), Importers & Exporters Association of Taipei, and Fastener World Inc. Most of the Taiwanese exhibitors at this show were fastener, building-material and hand-tool suppliers.
THTMA installed a booth in Hall 3 to promote quality Taiwanese tools. CENS booth was in Hall 2 promoting the March 2007 issue of the Taiwan Hardware Magazine and Hand Tools that CENS publishes under a THTMA contract.
At this fair, exhibitors from Germany, the United Kingdom, Swiss, Italy, France and Portugal still captivated attention with quality while Taiwanese, mainland Chinese and Indian exhibitors impressed visitors with competitive pricing.
Biggest Fair in the Middle East
The BIG-5 Show is the largest hardware trade fair in the Middle East. The latest edition of this show was held from Oct. 28 through Nov.1, 2006. The 2006 show featured themes including building and construction, water technology and environment, air conditioning and refrigeration, cleaning and maintenance, glass and metal, bathrooms and ceramics, as well as marble and stone.

A total of 2,500 companies from 56 countries demonstrated the latest products at this show. Exhibitors came from 30 nations, including Canada, Italy, Australia, Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal, the United States, Taiwan, and mainland China, all of whom set up national halls at this show.
Exhibitors from different countries demonstrated their own specialized products at this show. For instance, around one-fifth of the 308 German exhibitors demonstrated hollow bricks, cement bricks, and trail bricks. A large number of the 77 Australian exhibitors impressed visitors with their heat-insulation, water-treatment, and sea-water desalinization technologies. The mainland Chinese 201 exhibitors mostly displayed building materials, including tiles, stones, timbers, glass and hardware. The 65 Taiwanese exhibitors mostly demonstrated bathroom wares, door locks, nails, hand tools and DIY hardware.
Buyers visiting the show mostly came from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Omen, and Qatar.
Dubai is offering lucrative business opportunities to global hardware manufacturers with its nearly US$700 billion investments in various construction projects.
CENS booth was set up at the common entrance to Halls 2 and 3. Buyers dropped by mostly to inquire about building hardware and fasteners suppliers.
In 2007, plant, machinery and vehicle will be three new themes at the Dubai trade fair, which will be held from Nov. 25 to 29.
