Best of AutoTronics Taipei Highlighted in Theme Pavilions

To provide a clustering effect and attract more buyers, the AutoTronics Taipei 2007 show contains two special pavilions: Taiwan Automotive Research Consortium (TARC) and Global Positioning System (GPS). All three display products and technologies that the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the show`s organizer, believes will experience rapid progress over the next two years.
The TARC Pavilion, organized by one of the key powers in the development of Taiwan`s auto-electronics industry, showcases the fruits of development of the consortium`s members. Its membership includes four founders-the Mechanical and System Research Laboratories (MSL) of the government-backed Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), the Automotive Research and Testing Center (ARTC), the Chung-Shan Institu8te of Science and Technology (CSIST), and the Metal Industries Research and Development Center (MORDC)-plus about 120 private manufacturers and suppliers.

ARTC is using the pavilion to show off the achievements it has made in the past several years, including systems related to advanced safety, automatic cruise control systems, LED headlamps, and intelligent chip-card applications. Part of the display is the Advanced Safety Zone, where the displays include a lane departure warning system (LDWS), lake keeping assist (LKA) system, front collision warning system (FCW), parking assist system (PAS), electric power steering system (EPS). Also included in the exhibit are two prototype LED headlamps and a motorcycle with an LED headlight.
The MSL, a powerhouse of automotive-technology R&D, has long focused its efforts on the development of advanced systems and parts related to transportation equipment. The laboratory is exhibiting its achievements in the areas of advanced safety, hybrid power-train systems, "clean" internal combustion engines, automated manual transmissions (AMTs), and telematics on-board units (OBUs).

The MIRDC is showcasing a series of R&D achievements in lightweight metals such as magnesium and other alloys. These achievements include magnesium-alloy seat frames, steering wheels, instrument-panel frames, engine oil pans, and cylinder heads, and aluminum-alloy brake calipers, tube-type automobile front frames, radiator frame assemblies, and thin-walled forged manifolds.
The CSIST is displaying high-tech modules including those for night-vision systems, collision-avoidance radar, smart air-bag igniters, and automobile CAN BUS (gateway).
In the GPS Pavilion, displays focus on Taiwan`s complete up- to downstream supply chain, including GPS chips, modules, receives, small- and medium-sized LCD panels, human-machine interfaces, GPS on-board units PNDs, geographical information system (GIS) map information, and others. Joint efforts by companies in the fields of auto electronics, consumer electronics, home appliances, information and communications technology (ICT), and telecommunications in Taiwan have given GPS devices a much wider range of functions.
